Measurements and checks in vehicle diagnosis
Document voltages, signals and live data with suitable instruments, test conditions and units, then compare findings with vehicle-specific specifications.
ContactA reading needs its test conditions
Record what you measured, where, with which instrument and in which operating state. Engine state, temperature, load and reference point affect interpretation. Without this context, two readings may not be comparable.
Choose the instrument and procedure
A multimeter, oscilloscope and scan-tool live data provide different views. An averaged reading may miss a short interruption or signal shape. Choose equipment and connection points from the official procedure, using suitable specifications and avoiding terminal damage.
Compare against the correct specification
There is no universal normal value for every sensor or circuit. Consider vehicle, engine, ECU, system version, unit and operating conditions. Check whether a parameter is measured, calculated or commanded. Investigate a discrepancy before attributing it to a component.
Keep a verifiable record
Record expected and actual results with the specification source. DiagVima helps organise checks and new findings while the technician evaluates their meaning. Work involving high voltage, pressurised fuel or moving parts requires the prescribed training and safety procedure.
